Activity
The renewed intensive care unit is a 12 beds unit equipped with the most modern technology of monitoring and treatment of patients and the injured. The department is fully fortified for situations of war and chemical threat. Patients over 16 years who need close monitoring or with life threatening situations are admitted to the unit: severe sepsis, multiple trauma, intoxication, multi-organ failure and other situations.
The staff of the intensive care unit encourages the family to be involved in the treatment and makes much effort to help the families to cope with the extreme situations.
The unit is acknowledged by the Israel Medical Association for full residency in intensive care and for rotation of physicians from other residencies. It is also affiliated to the medical school of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev and medical students spend time for short rotations in the unit.
