Description of activities

Sick children of ages up to 16 with all types of sickness are admitted to the pediatric department including children for underweight assessment, respiratory diseases, miscellaneous infectious diseases and also following surgeries and for continuing care after treatment in the pediatric intensive care unit. Beside medical treatment and medical tests, and in order to relieve the stress of being hospitalized in an unknown and frightening surrounding, the hospital management built a playground with different facilities like playground slides, seesaws and swings. The smooth floor was specially designed to minimize trauma. Next to the department there is a classroom where children can use computers, watch television, play with different creation games.

During their stay, children will meet a medical clowns who amuse them with different tricks. Sometimes famous people like basketball players and singers are invited to visit the children. We do everything to make their stay easy and enjoyable. Parents who wish to stay with their children can sleep on a folding armchair.

Children who need further investigations are released and continue their investigations at the pediatric daycare center.

Acupuncture       

       Acupuncture, the traditional chinese medicine, is available for those children who agree to have this type of therapy. It is used for different situations and diseases like asthma, recurrent stridor, loss of appetite, enuresis and other medical problems.

The Shaked educational center

The Shaked educational center is open for all the hospitalized children and is under the supervision of the ministry of education of Israel. Its mission is to provide the opportunity to the hospitalized child to continue his learning specially for those who need long hospitalization.
