20 Research Day 2020 Barzilai University Medical Center 10 AUTO-TRANSPLANTATION OF PERMANENT TEETH IN THE ANTERIOR AND POSTERIOR REGION Itai Zilberman, Ami Zaguri, Uri Zilberman Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Dental Clinic, Barzilai Medical University Center, Ashkelon Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel. Introduction Auto-transplantation of teeth is known for more than 50 years with survival rates of 70-90% after 5- 20 years follow-up. The most common auto-transplantations are of premolars to anterior region, impacted third molars instead of first permanent molar or missing premolars and impacted canines. Objectives To analyze the possibility of auto-transplantation of permanent teeth in trauma or impacted teeth. Methods and materials We will present 3 cases of auto transplantation performed at Barzilai Medical University Center in Ashkelon during the last six years. A lower first premolar with only half of root length was auto- transplanted instead of an upper incisor after avulsion; an impacted third molar was implanted to replace a first permanent molar extracted due to severe carious attack and a case of impacted upper canines that did not respond to conventional orthodontic traction. Results All cases showed a very good healing process and follow-up of more than three years showed promising success. Conclusion The success of auto transplantation is based on close cooperation between pediatric dentistry, oral surgery and orthodontics.
