Daily Activity
The staff of the non-interventional echocardiography unit performs different kinds of echocardiographic examinations, all of them are intended to examine the structural parts of the heart (volume, diameter etc..), functions of the different parts of the myocardium and the valves, detect congenital malformations, presence of thrombi in the atria and ventricles and atherosclerotic lesions in the big vessels of the chest.
Moreover, estimation of the pulmonary artery pressure and the pulmonary wedge pressure through echocardiography gives the physician better information to estimate the function of the heart.
The most sophisticated and modern echocardiograph in the department is the three dimensional echocardiograph, 7EPIQ, that offers true three dimensional image of the heart. The three dimensional echocardiograph is also used to synchronize the stimuli of the dual chamber pacemakers.
Prof Yosefy is one of the leading physicians of the three dimensional cardiographic imaging and he is invited to many countries to teach this technology.
Stress test using echocardiography is another non-interventional procedure to detect coronary artery disease by showing abnormal regional movement of the myocardial muscle during exercise. Echocardiographic stress test can be done using drugs when the patient has mobility disability.
When external echocardiography is not possible, trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) is the procedure of choice. TEE is done under sedation and offers a better view of the cardiac valves and the atria.
