The neurology institute consists of multiple clinics for the different neurological symptoms and diseases according to the specializations of the doctors who run these clinics. All the senior physicians obtained their experience in Israel and on internships abroad.
General Neurology clinic
Patients are referred from the different HMOs and for follow up after discharge from the hospital. Patients will be referred to the special clinic upon need.
Movement Disorders clinic
The clinic is specialized in diagnosing and treatment of movement disorders: Parkinson disease, Huntington's chorea, tremor, Tourette syndrome, walking disorders and others. Treatments include adjustment of subcutaneous infusion pump with Apomorphine to overcome severe rigidity in Parkinson's disease, Duodopa intestinal infusion pump and intracerebral stimulation for severe motor disorders in Parkinson's syndrome.
Epilepsy clinic
Patients with all types of epilepsy from the community and patient discharged from the hospital continue follow up in this outpatient clinic. Treatment incudes oral medications, and in severe uncontrolled cases, patients are referred for interventional procedures and cerebral stimulation.
Memory Disorders clinic
The medical staff works on diagnosing, assessing and treating memory disorders, dementia, Alzheimer disease, and attention deficits of the elderly.
Multiple Sclerosis clinic
The multiple sclerosis clinic is multi-professional one where a neurologist, specialized nurse, social worker and other specialists, work together to offer the best therapy for the patients including IV drugs and experimental drugs within research programs.
Stroke clinic
Patients after stroke are referred for follow up to this clinic. The most important aim is to treat the risk factors that contributed to the development of the stroke. Eligible post CVA patients continue rehabilitation in the center for rehabilitation at the Barzilai medical center.
Vertigo clinic
The aim of this clinic is to diagnose the causes of vertigo,
imbalance and ataxia and to differentiate between symptoms
that arise from the vestibular system of the internal ear or from
a brain/ cerebellar lesion. Vertigo that arises from the vestibular system may be cured instantly by a simple manipulation in the clinic.
Neuro-muscular clinic
The neuro-muscular clinic is intended to diagnose diseases of the peripheral nervous system (neuropathy) and the neuromuscular junction (myopathy), such as myasthenia gravis. We have a new system for performing neurophysiological assessment of the function of the nerves and the muscles and even for assessment of a single fiber.
Botulinum injection clinic
Botulinum toxin is very effective for relieving contractions and muscle spasm, such as blepharospasm, dystonia of the facial muscles, torticollis, post CVA spasticity of the upper and lower limbs, cerebral palsy, and recently for treating migraine headache. The effect of the botulinum toxin lasts few months and patients must return for further injections.
Tests conducted at the neurology institute:
Electroencephalogram EEG: alert and nocturnal
EMG (electromyography) and NCT (nerve conduction test)
Evoked potentials: Visual (VEP), Hearing (BERA) and sensory (SEP)
Transcranial Doppler – assessment of the blood circulation to the brain
