Tattoo of solidarity
From Katia Balinsky -Emergency Department
Saturday morning, 7th of October, the Barzilai medical center, and specially the emergency department team, suddenly had to deal with a war situation. A war to save lives of the injured soldiers and innocent citizens, to give them the best treatment, to keep them alive and to rehabilitate them so that they will be able to return to normal life.
So many injured, soldiers, civilians from all religions and societies and, sadly, many victims who left a deep sign in our hearts. At the end of the day, we felt that we must commemorate that day in some way.
The team of the nurses of the emergency department decided, all together, that the best way to commemorate that day was by a tattoo. The essence of the tattoo was not just a symbol of that horrible day but also to remember the teamwork, the spirit of fighting, the solidarity, the mutual assistance and the side-by-side performance. Moreover, it meant to give the medical team a feeling of optimism to overcome all the obstacles and a little bit of hope for a better future.
