Regional Health Bureau of Ashkelon

The building of the regional health bureau of Ashkelon is located at the north entrance of the Barzilai medical center. Until 10 years ago, the CEO and head of the Barzilai medical center served as the head of the Regional Health Bureau of Ashkelon, and the financial and manpower administration was managed by the administrative staff of the medical center. Since then, the medical management of the regional health bureau was separated, but the administrative management remained the same.

The head of the regional health bureau is now Prof Belinko Natalia.

The regional health bureau works under the authority of the Ministry of Health and is responsible for the public health issues in the cities of: Ashkelon, Ashdod, Sderot, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Mal'achi and the surrounding villages, kibbutsim and moshavim. This includes:

¥  Supervising environmental health

¥  Supervising food services

¥  Local epidemiological issues

¥  Health services for the mother and child

¥  Health services for the pupils

¥  School nurses

¥  Mental health services

¥  Care for patients with chronic illnesses

¥  Supplying mobility and rehabilitation aids like wheel chairs and special beds

¥  Vaccination of the newborn, pupils and travelers to endemic areas

¥  Preparedness and response during emergency situations, mass casualty events and war situations
